Esther

Esther Sexton, Psy.D.

(she/her)

Esther completed her doctoral degree at Pacific University in 2017 and is licensed as a psychologist in Oregon and Washington. She provides individual and couples therapy.

Esther uses a variety of therapeutic approaches including DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Feminist therapy, and IPT (Interpersonal Process). She views the therapeutic journey as one on which she collaborates with her clients to decide what approach will be the most helpful to them in building the life they want to lead. Esther believes that while her training and skills can be helpful to you, you are the expert on you.

Esther's primary specialty area is working with gender and sexuality minority clients. She identifies as a queer woman and as a sex positive and kink friendly therapist. She enjoys working with clients who are polyamorous, are in other forms of consensual non-monogamous relationships, or are exploring relationship styles, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Esther has extensive experience working with those struggling with substance concerns and is open to both harm reduction and abstinence approaches to treatment. Esther also has experience working with first responders and their unique experiences and needs in therapy.

Esther describes her therapeutic style as relaxed and irreverent. She enjoys using humor and celebrating your successes with you. Coming to therapy is hard work and often isn't a fun process. Esther's goal is to help you make it a fulfilling process and be a friendly, calming, supportive, and trustworthy companion on your journey.
