(she/her)
Avantika received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Wright State University in 2024 and is currently a psychologist resident working towards licensure in Oregon. She works with folks 18+ providing individual and couples therapy.
Avantika is deeply passionate about walking with you on your journey towards healing and achieving your personal goals. She approaches therapy through a lens of genuine care and compassion and values learning about her clients’ whole self. She uses Humanistic Therapy and Feminist Therapy as her main therapeutic modalities and aims to embody the spirit of these approaches in her work. In your work with her, you can expect to encounter tools such as Mindfulness; connecting with your body, emotions, and values; and identifying and challenging internalized unhelpful beliefs and expectations with the aim of uncovering your true self. Avantika also enjoys use of creative interventions such as use of movement, play, and artwork to help you and her connect and build meaningful work together.
Avantika particularly enjoys working with BIPOC individuals and folks within the LGBTQIA+ community. In her identities as a queer, immigrant, woman of color, she enjoys connecting with and helping others who have their own experiences of marginalization and values the therapy space as one where these themes may be openly explored. Avantika’s specialty areas include working with trauma and disordered eating and body image concerns.
When she is not at work, Avantika is typically found cuddled with her 2 cats and her partner. She enjoys baking, drawing and painting, and almost any activity that involves a swimming pool or natural body of water.
Avantika personally values human connection and views people as innately capable of healing and growth. As a consumer of mental health services herself, Avantika recognizes the courage and vulnerability it takes to engage in a therapy space. She aims to honor the effort it takes on her clients’ part through centering their autonomy and working towards co-creating a space in which all participants can feel empowered to be themselves and share mutual respect and care for one another.
